I received a message from a reader who was having difficulty with his Little Brain getting the best of him. He said he knew better but that he was stressed at work and kept spitting out a comment he wish he had not said. After some more listening I introduced him to a tool we have used in the past, called “Neutral.” Neutral is inside your Big Brain. Neutral is when you restrain your Little Brain just long enough to let your Big Brain find the proper response. You can practice Neutral by finding a few activators, things you know annoy you, and practice not saying anything for a few moments to let the feeling subside. Maybe watch a show you are not fond of and when you would normally make a snide remark…go to neutral…let the Big Brain finish the moment.
So many times we want to take words back …go to Neutral …you will never regret it.
